THERAPY FOR BLACK, INDIGENOUS, WOMEN OF COLOR
When you decide to take the important step of seeking therapy, having a therapist who reflects your identity can be an invaluable part of helping you feel that your experiences can be understood. Although each person experiences things uniquely, many BIPOC women find it validating to have support from someone who represents an element of their identity. At Joie de Vivre we understand the importance of working with a therapist who has made a point of becoming culturally competent, gets the unique aspects of your background, and is equipped to support your mental health.
Due to the systemic barriers related to racism, sexism, etc., many women have been taught to minimize their personal experiences which can negatively impact overall wellbeing. At Joie de Vivre our team of therapists have experience journeying with clients from diverse backgrounds and intersecting marginalized identities (e.g., LGBTQIA+, Disabled, and Neurodivergent communities). We offer an approach to therapy prioritizes a safe space for BIPOC women to exist in their true identities.
How can counseling help?
We are committed to culturally sensitive care and understanding our patients’ backgrounds in order to provide quality treatment and BIPOC therapy. From a culturally responsive, and socially just lens, our goal is to help bring awareness to the social, cultural, and economic context affecting your mental, physical, and spiritual health. Whether you are struggling with life transitions, depression, anxiety, gender identity, or navigating cultural stigma, we are prepared to help you find peace and clarity.

At Joie de Vivre value connection, and show up for our clients with a deep reverence for the therapeutic space held between us. We are actively working to decolonize mental health care and stigma and are working to actively increase access to quality care for those who have been historically excluded.

I support those interested in exploring their intersectional identities, including diverse sex, gender and relationship identities, personal values, and beliefs as part of the therapeutic process. Our sessions will progress in tune with your level of comfort and I invite you to provide me with feedback at any point throughout therapy as we co-create the best care for you.

My role as a public servant has allowed me to experience meaningful engagement with citizens from various abilities, life stages, cultural, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds. This invaluable experience has shaped my personal journey towards helping diverse individuals seek clarity and direction, find balance and deeper self-understanding. Working with clients, I aim to get a holistic view of how systemic oppression, life circumstances, and genetic predisposition influence their life.
